Fitzwilliam Town Library Board of Trustees Minutes of Meeting June 6, 2016

Present: Nick Noyes, Gail P. Landy, Barbara Green, Richard Mays, Dick Goettle, Director Kate Thomas
Absent: Susan Curtin

The meeting was called to order at 6pm in the Meeting Room of the library. The manifest was approved.

The minutes of the May 2, 2016 were approved with several additions and clarifications. These will be sent to the Trustees for approval of final wording.

Since July 4th, the date of our next scheduled meeting is a holiday, it was decided to move the meeting to 5:30pm July 11th, early enough to not conflict with the Book Group.

Richard mentioned that the outside flood light is staying on continually but the electrician has not been available to consult on the issue.

Dennis Wright will be doing the painting of the South wall of the library either the last week of June or the first week in July. The monies for this project are funded through the Capital Improvements budget for the Town.

Barbara Green reported that architect Malcolm Katz has viewed the fire escape and the current codes and except for a ½ inch difference in tread depth everything seems to be in order. His interpretation of the codes is that a covered fire escape is not required. Barbara will try to arrange a meeting with Nancy Carney of the Fire Department. If agreement is reached that no work needs to be done we can request that this item be removed from the CIP.

Our usual gardener is unavailable. Liz Quick will be doing work in the gardens on a trial basis beginning the 8th.

Kate is working to get Wilder Air Conditioning out to service our unit.

Kate and Richard attended the recent NTLA conference and found the emergency planning, and conflict in the workplace sessions especially informative.

Dick Goettle continues to work on refining aspects of our budget reporting and has made great progress. The Investment Policy needs some further revisions that will be a topic at a later meeting.

The meeting adjourned at 7:20pm with Trustees going to Town Hall to meet with Selectmen and Budget Committee.

Respectfully submitted,

Gail P. Landy, Secretary
