Nick Noyes called the meeting to order at 5:30 PM in the Quick Meeting Room of the Library.

The Trustees reviewed and signed the 2018 year-end Library Manifest and the January 2019 Library Manifest.

The Trustees also reviewed the 2018 year-end Expense Report.

Dick Goettle presented the 2018 year-end Income Statement, which the Trustees discussed briefly and signed.

The minutes of the December 3rd meeting were reviewed; Richard Mays put forth a motion, seconded by Dick, to approve them.  Motion carried.

Kate Thomas presented the Librarian’s report. Annual circulation exceeded that of 2017.  The library hosted 274 programs, which 2,545 people attended; it also received over 16,000 visitors.  Kate reported that a new circulation computer (and accompanying receipt printer) now occupy the front desk.  Two new computers for public use will be set up and fully functional within the next two weeks.  Computer programs intended to attract children and families (Minecraft, Wii Dance and MarioKart) will be available on those computers. With respect to custodial services, Kate will ask the housekeeper to change the cleaning schedule to accommodate the Wednesday evening programs.

Nick recounted his meeting with Historic District Commission regarding materials for fencing and walkway materials. After a brief discussion, Nick agreed to return to the Commission to discuss the use of artificial wood as an acceptable fencing material.  He will also meet with the CIP committee again to present a revised bid for the reconstruction of the damaged walkway.

The Trustees approved the Library Director’s annual review and compensation increase.

Barbara Green announced that the library has received the final appraisal of the Locke Collection.  She has also met with Charlie Massin, Massin Insurance, to discuss insurance coverage for the collection.  Nick, Barbara and Ann McEntee will meet to prepare a letter to the Selectmen regarding such coverage.

The next trustee meeting has been scheduled for Monday, February 4th at 5:30 PM.

Richard put forth a motion, seconded by Ann, that the meeting adjourn.  Meeting adjourned at 6:37 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Ann McEntee, Secretary
