Trustee Minutes – November 5, 2018

Minutes of the Meeting
Fitzwilliam Town Library Board of Trustees
5 November 2018

Present:  Dick Goettle, Barbara Green, Richard Mays, Ann McEntee, Nick Noyes, Susan Curtin (alternate), Trish Toomey (alternate) and Library Director Kate Thomas

Nick Noyes called the meeting to order at 5:35 PM in the Quick Meeting Room of the Library.

The Trustees reviewed and signed the Library Manifest and the Library Expenses Spreadsheet.

The minutes of the October 9th meeting were reviewed; Richard Mays put forth a motion, seconded by Nick, to approve them.  Motion carried.

Kate Thomas presented the Librarian’s report.  Circulation of materials was down, but it was conjectured that many patrons were too engrossed in the American Baseball League Playoffs and the World Series to visit the library.  The trustees discussed the two additional bids for branding that Kate has recently received.  Interviews for Jill Wixom’s replacement have been scheduled for November 5th and 7th.  With respect to children’s programing, Kate stated that she has begun scheduling month-long activities.  November is Legos Club month.

Nick announced that the Budget Committee will meet November 15th at 7:00 PM to begin its review of the library’s proposed 2019 budget.

Barbara Green, Nick and Ann McEntee will meet the Scott Rodolitz, who has been hired to appraise the Locke Collection, for a photo shoot of the items on November 8th at the town offices.  Barbara assured the trustees that the appraisal will be completed before the end of December 2018.

Richard has agreed to oversee building and grounds maintenance after his term of office ends (March 2019).  He will also continue to serve as the point person to meet with contractors and subcontractors.

Dick Goettle stated that the trustees will review the quarterly earnings statement during the January 2019 meeting.  He also reported that he has filed the Fidelity Investments paperwork.  Once finalized, he will close out the Walpole Savings Bank accounts and deposit them in the new account.  The WSB’s certificate of deposit matures June 2019, at which time those monies will be deposited in the Fidelity account.

The next trustee meeting has been scheduled for Monday, December 3rd at 5:30 PM.

Richard put forth a motion, seconded by Dick, that the meeting adjourn.  Meeting adjourned at 6:06 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Ann McEntee, Secretary
