Trustee Minutes – November 7, 2011

Present: Richard Mays, Nick Noyes, Joanne Kesses and Susan Massin
Absent: Barbara Green, Maggie Brogdon

We approved the October 17, 2011, revised minutes.

Building Update – The front-porch roof is free of snow and will be patched. Richard suggested that it be vented to help dry the wood underneath.
The sliding doors to the Meeting Room are once more lockable.

Fiscal Topics —
Budget – Again we reviewed the preliminary 2012 budget. We made no changes. The Budget Hearing will be on November 17th at 8:00 PM.
Memorial Funds – Two trustees will be writing thank-you notes to the 47 contributors to the E. Massin memorial fund. We discussed various ways to handle the money in the fund and decided to take up the topic again at the next meeting.
We moved the plaque listing memorial funds. Now patrons can easily see it near the main door.

Technology – Susan commented that computer use is down possibly because DSL is more readily available in town. We will replace two of the 7 computers. In the new fiscal year we will take up Matt Vestal’s thorough proposal for a long-range plan.

Miscellaneous – The Library will be offering tutoring on Wednesday afternoons from 3:30 to 5:00. We are curious to see what the response will be to this new service.
As of this date, seven patrons are signed up for Kindle and eBook demonstrations on November 15th and 16th.
Courtesy of The Friends of the Library, Odds Bodkins will read A Christmas Carol in the Town Hall on December 21st.

The trustees signed the manifest and the meeting was adjourned at 7:15 PM.

The next meeting will be Monday, December 5th at 6 PM.

Respectfully submitted,
