November 7, 2016

Present:  Nick Noyes, Dick Goettle, Richard Mays, Barbara Green, Susan Curtin—alternate, and Director Kate Thomas

Absent: none

The meeting was called to order at 6pm in the Quick Meeting Room of the library.

Carl Gravina, our investment advisor, explained his reasons for and the process of leaving Wells Fargo Advisors for Steward Partners Global Advisory.  He continued with an explanation of what that meant for us should we decide to keep him as our investment advisor.

He clarified what it meant to have Raymond James as the custodian of our assets.  After he left, we unanimously agreed to keep him as our investment advisor.  Barbara Green has the packet of information to start the transfer and will be  in contact with Carl Gravina’s office as needed.

The Trustees reviewed and signed the manifest.

The Librarian’s spread sheet of library spending was reviewed.

The Trustees reviewed, amended, and approved as amended the minutes of the October 3, 2016, Trustee meeting.

The Trustees reviewed and discussed the final version of the 2017 budget.  Dick Geottle summarized the Nov. 3 meeting with the Town Budget Committee.

Kate Thomas suggested Ann McEntee be appointed a trustee to fill out Gail Landy’s term.  The Trustees agreed and Nick Noyes will write a letter to the selectmen.

On the Locke Collections, Barbara Green reported on a presentation she attended in Peterborough.  She now has more information and contacts.

With the annual review of the Library Director coming up, Nick Noyes will email the forms to everybody and print ones for the staff.  The forms will be collected at the next meeting.

A discussion ensued on the topics of insurance for the Locke collections and the problem of having the Library Director as an hourly employee.  Dick Goettle and Nick Noyes will meet with the selectmen in December to ensure the town and library are on the same page with these two issues.

The Librarian’s report included that circulation in October ticked up 1% from last year.  Also there were 29 programs with the fantastic attendance of 429.

Next meeting is Dec. 5, 2016, at 6:00PM in the library.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:35PM.
